Barracuda .065-Inch by 50-Foot Bulk String Trimmer Line #952701682
Customer Review: product overpriced
Product very, very overpriced. For that kind of money they should have sent 500 feet. Home Depot does not carry large spools of .65 line. Pity. But it does sell 500 feet of .80 line for about $12. Their 50 foot spool of .65 sells for about $3. Next time around I will check elsewhere.

Husqvarna 128L 28cc 2-Stroke Smart Start Straight Shaft String Trimmer
Customer Review: At long last, one that works!
Did a LOT of research online and in stores, only to be disappointed several times before finding the Husqvarna 128LDx (same as 128L, but with detachable shaft to allow for accessories) My old Ryobi bit the dust, and the new ones in the big box stores are junk. I can't believe how downhill they've gone. Pain in the neck to assemble, no more multiple choke positions for when it starts varnishing up over time (even with proper maintenance, fuel treatment and storage). I put the new one I purchased back in the box and promptly returned it to the HD big box store. I then looked at (and actually purchased and returned after reading instructions and learning more about them) the Echo and MTD (4-stroke). The Echo I bought had the kind of head where you put small pieces of string into the head easily, and then replaced the pieces when they broke off while trimming. This seemed too much a hassle to always have to stop and replace those pieces (however simple) everytime you hit a chain link fence or landscaping block. Some of the higher end Echo's are pretty nice, and were in 2nd place for me, but talking to a number of people in the know gave the nod to the Husqvarna. The Echo's have great motors, but a tendency to have string jams, meltdowns, etc. The Husqvarna is the easiest to add more line to, and is known to be bulletproof in that area. The 4-stroke MTD seemed like a sweet idea, but when I read the instructions and learned about the maintenance (you need to have feeler gauges and be able to adjust the valve-lash -- not something your average joe homeowner really wants to mess with). Plus, I heard that the durability may not be there. Certainly seems there are good reasons that people who use these things professionally stay away from the 4-strokes (heavy and lack of durability). So finally came upon the Husqvarna. Solid reviews whereever I went, and known for WORKING. Great, powerful motor that is easy starting and long lasting. Fairly light weight, trimmer head is a bump head that's very easy to refill. Straight shaft, professional style trimmer that I got for an even two bills at the dealer -- who set it up for me, got it running/adjusted perfectly and showed me all the ins and outs. Other notes: Decent sound level -- not all that loud. Does not smoke -- Etec II engine is pretty clean for a two stroke. So far I am very pleased!

Customer Review: Extra spool
Having A extra is great. If I run out of string I can just pop out the empty spool and pop the new one in and keep going. Later I can refill the empty one for the next time.

Toro 3.5 Amp 11-Inch Electric String Trimmer #51347
Customer Review: I do not recommend this model
In general I prefer electric trimmers to gas ones. I don't mind the cord, and they are cleaner and quieter than other styles. I'm looking for a new trimmer - different brand. I used a Weed-Eater brand trimmer for years, and was very happy with it. After losing that one, I bought this one... mistake... I have used this one for about a year - moderate use in a small suburban Texas yard. It worked well with the original spool. I have fought with the spool & string repeatedly since then. When it is time for a change, the entire mechanism gets stuck together to the point of being unworkable -- will not budge. Screwwdrivers and channel-locks only scrape up the spool worse. The long plastic bar broke in half yesterday when I tapped it on the ground to let out some more line - really cheap construction. Will never buy Toro again.

The trimmer comes with all the necessary oil for immediate operation, and is covered by a 2-year limited warranty.
Customer Review: TRIMMER REVIEW
A GOOD PRODUCT, EASY TO START, PLENTY OF POWER HOWEVER A BIT OUT OF BALANCE, SHAFT COULD BE ABOUT SIX INCHES LONGER AND A BETTER BUMP HEAD THAT SCREWS ON SO IT COULD BE REPLACED WHEN NEEDED.
Customer Review: Don't waste your time!
This is a piece of Junk. This weed eater will cause you to pay for repairs. I have had 2 of them and my neighbor's second one broke also. Ask a small engine repair man about Troybilt and watch his reaction! The carb on the Troybilt is so temperamental and will gum up, stall or will not work at all, I have spent $60.00 on repairs, this weed eater is only used sparingly and my yard is not that big! I had a Ryobi for years and never had a problem, save your money, buy a Stihl!!!!!!

Factory Reconditioned Weed Eater TE475Y 17-Inch 25cc 2-Stroke Gas Powered Curved Shaft String Trimmer
This is the first "factory reconditioned" product I have ever bought; and the last one... It is assembled upside down and cannot be used. I tried to send it back, but it cannot be returned. At least I got my money back.
Customer Review: A superior string trimmer
I've owned this exact model, a TE475Y, for several years and mostly love it--the auto line feed design is way, way better than the bump-type at least in my experience. So when I decided I needed a spare trimmer and found it here on Amazon, I was very pleased indeed, EXCEPT that the reviews here made me nervous about mail-ordering it for sure. But in the end, this product seems no longer available anywhere locally, so I decided to "Prime" order it, and with overnight delivery to hopefully minimize the potential for shipping damage. So I ordered it Monday and (of course!) received it Tuesday and sure enough the box was caved-in quite a bit, but luckily the two (yes, only two!) pieces of packing tape "securing" either end were intact, so the end flaps were secure and there were no missing parts. But it's true...AMAZINGLY there is no packing material inside the box whatsover! Zero, zip, nada, none! My goodness, they could at least have wrapped the power head in a piece of bubble-wrap!!!???!!! Come-on, Amazon, have your warehouse guys open the box, wrap the engine, and *adequately* re-tape the thing and you will save yourselves and your customers a lot of grief! Oh, well, enough griping--despite this embarrassing packing situation I had no cracks or broken parts or anything; maybe overnight FedEx is the way to go indeed. Today I fired it-up and trimmed for a couple hours; excellent, this is just a wonderful machine and I'm sorry that Poulan has apparently decided to retire the design. But at least spare parts are still very readily available; it was even sold under the "Sears Craftsman" brand so lots of repair parts are available from many sources including of course our very favorite "store", Amazon.com! Thanks!

Weed Eater FLSST25 FeatherLite 17-Inch 25cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered Straight Shaft String Trimmer
Customer Review: Don't waste your money
Immediately upon receiving this product I assembled it, gassed it up, and pulled the starter. It started right away! Only problem, it would not STAY running!! I messed with it for about 20 minutes before finally giving up and calling the 800 number. After a wait of seven minutes a customer rep told me the problem was the carburetor. The carburetor was not "Adjusted" for my area (Ohio). I would have to take it to a repair shop. This product was just minutes out of the box!!! An email to the company confirmed that the most likely culprit was the carb and that some areas of the country have this problem.
Customer Review: economy trimmer
Folks I have this weed eater since 2001, and it has gotten many work-outs sometimes I run it for almost 2 hrs trimming 3 acres of light to moderate weeds. I will say this I have changed the spark plug once, and have never been to concerned of the gas to oil mix ratio, just guessing most of the time. It is a little tricky to get started, a few primers and a few pulls on full choke, a few primers and pulls on moderate choke, and off and running removing the choke totally. She runs smooth, and never misses a beat, and I was very happy with almost every feature, but the bump and feed system totally sucks. I mean I'm always turning it off flipping the spool over and pulling the string out to get the proper length etc. I think I paid &69.00 at lowes back in 2001 at, and I've gotten my money out of this, but the time I spend on the bump and feed really slows me down to a crawl. I realize I need a bigger more expensive unit now, but if you have moderate trimming and live in a more city to suburban setting with little ground this will be a nice selection. I think I over used the bump/feed spool, and have suffered through ever since. The little motor humms and I've never done any service but the plug and the throttle wire after many uses had to be repaired, and $20 bill at my local mower shop so now you can make a more informed choice about this one!

Black & Decker 8-Inch 12-Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer and Edger #CST800
Customer Review: Pretty good item.....great for the price
Item works very well and one charge of the battery lasts a relatively long time. I had to remove the guard in order to have more than 2.5" of string actually cutting at once.

I am not sure how to answer this. Do not know if it is my problem or the Stringers. Have trouble with the string breaking. Glad it is easy to reload. Is light weight and easy to use for the most.

Customer Review: Sweetness
This is a nice unit for the money. I only use it about twice a month, but it is easy to use. Start up is easy. One, maybe two pulls is all you need to get it started. Weight-wise, it is pretty light and well balanced. It will do what you need it to, and do it well.
